Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing

During 1980s low labor costs, access to new technologies in manufacturing, suitable financial resources and specialized supply chains had a vital importance for creating competitive advantages. Today, these resources are widely available to all businesses active in global markets. Therefore businesses today have to focus on new concepts like innovation, quality, price, time-to-market and flexibility.

Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing

Today, in order to lead the competition businesses must have shorter innovation cycles, increase quality and improve the cost/advantage ratio of their products.  Realization of these tasks requires a new perspective about innovation, product development and manufacturing, and, implementing/using the new approaches developed worldwide at an early stage.

Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing

In global markets, the speed of commercializing new products and new ideas is of crucial importance for success. Studies reveal that by being first in the market means a company can cover the market and get the bigger part of the total revenue. Usually first 20% percent of the companies that have launched their products before their competitors get the 80% of the total revenue.

In order to speed up your product development cycle, improve your added value and position in global markets, infoTRON closely follows up the technological developments, and, opens this knowledge base to your use as services.

Rapid Prototyping
Companies try to decrease their product costs by using new technologies.  Studies reveal that, the cost of an Engineering Design Change increases 10 times at different phases of the development cycle. For instance, an engineering design change in the design phase costing 100 USD, costs 1,000 USD in the prototype/test phase, costs 10,000 USD in the tooling phase, costs 100,000 USD in the production phase, and costs 1,000,000 USD in the after sales phase. It is evident that prototyping and functional testing conducted at the early stages of product development creates important cost advantages to businesses. infoTRON provides service bureau activities using different rapid prototyping technologies based on the requirements of your product under development.  Our aim is to help you to benefit from these advantages to improve your added value and profit margins. The technologies we use for rapid prototyping services are given below.

  • Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
  • Epoxy Tooling
  • Reaction Injection Molding - RIM
  • Model / Prototype production by using polyurethane block material.
  • 3 - 5 Axis CNC machining

Rapid Manufacturing, Fabrication and Assembly Tools
Today, with the rapid increase in the number of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software users, the product development cycle times are decreasing. Many conventional methods that are used in the manufacturing and assembly processes are now being replaced by new solutions.

Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) or Rapid Manufacturing is a new technique for manufacturing end-use parts directly from CAD data without any tooling. High dimensional accuracy and repeatability of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology renders great advantages in manufacturing geometrically complex, low-volume end-use parts and fabrication and assembly tools. infoTRON also provides services for DDM applications with FDM technology.

Direct digital manufacturing eliminates the need for tooling. Since it can produce parts of complex geometry, part consolidation and elimination of the time involved in sub-assembly of parts produced by traditional methods is possible.
Production of the final products, apparatus, and fixtures are the factors that determine your speed and quality. infoTRON renders services for DDM of:

  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Alignment tools
  • Check gauges
  • Robot end of arm tools
  • Forming tools for sheet metal and composites
  • Clearance gauges
  • Test and inspection fixtures
  • Rigging tools
  • Staging racks

How to Use Our Services?
For those companies which utilize 3D modeling technologies, submitting a product design in STL file format would be sufficient for us to present a quotation and initiate rapid manufacturing of parts. In case you cannot submit STL data, we can also work on IGES, VDA, STEP, DXF or technical drawings. In such cases a quotation for creation of the STL file will also be presented.
